    Where can you park in Pasadena without paying for it?
    Outside Old Pasadena, usually yes. Atelier Pasadena, Rosebud Coffee, danbi coffee and Highlight Coffee all have a free lot or free street parking, which takes the first problem of the day off the table. Inside Old Pasadena it flips: Copa Vida, Criterion and Milk Brew run on meters and paid lots, and the meters there sit on the side streets rather than out front. So if parking is what decides your morning, aim away from Old Town. Every café page says which kind it has.

    Philz Coffee at 5:30am, earlier than anywhere else in the city. After that it's 7am, when Criterion coffee, Copa Vida, Highlight Coffee and Rosebud Coffee all open. If your best hours are the ones before everybody else starts, Pasadena is set up for it.
    Can you work late in Pasadena?
    Pasadena is a morning and afternoon town, so plan the long session early and you'll get the best of it. Criterion coffee runs to 9pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is the latest of the proper coffee shops here, and Atelier Pasadena stretches to 8pm on Thursdays.
